Farah Naz Hasan Ali, MACP Practicum Student, Counselling Intern (Sept, 2026)
Welcome, I’m glad you’re here. I’m a Master of Counselling Psychology student at City University, beginning my practicum term in Sept 2026. I work with adults (18+) navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, perinatal and postpartum distress, work-related stress, cultural and identity issues, relationship challenges, and grief.
As a South Asian Muslim woman, I understand some of the barriers that can make accessing therapy challenging, and I’m passionate about helping create change within my community. Having founded a business focused on maternal mental health, I care deeply about supporting mothers experiencing prenatal or postnatal depression.
Focus Areas and Communities I Support
Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health
South Asian & Muslim Communities
I am passionate about supporting individuals through the perinatal and postpartum period, including prenatal and postnatal depression, anxiety, and the many emotional changes that can arise in early parenthood.
As a South Asian Muslim woman, I understand some of the cultural, religious, and family expectations that can make seeking support feel complicated. I aim to offer a space that honours your values, identities, and lived experiences.
Student & Young Adult Mental Health
General Mental Health & Life Transitions
I also work with students and young adults, including through my practicum work at the MacEwan University clinic, as they navigate academic pressures, identity questions, relationships, and mental health concerns.
In addition to these areas, I support clients with concerns such as anxiety, depression, work-related stress, grief, and broader life transitions, always with a focus on collaboration, cultural humility, and your unique strengths.
Training & Approaches
I approach my work with cultural humility, empathy, and a strengths-based lens. I’m interested in drawing from several approaches to support you in your healing and growth, always tailoring our work to your unique needs and context.
